Admin Professionals Day 2023

Admin Professionals’ Day falls on April 26 (Wednesday) this year. What you can do to show YOUR Admin how valued they are.

While flowers, lunch, gift cards, a spa day, etc. are always appreciated, one of the most valuable assets in your company, your Assistant, would also very much appreciate more investments in their skill and career development.

If you are lucky enough to have one of these outstanding Assistants in your company; consider yourself very lucky!

Assistants wanting to learn new skills, diversify their knowledge, and grow their careers are an incredible asset to your company. You should invest in your Assistant’s continuing education and development.

Why?

When an Assistant is consistently up-leveling their skills - whom does that benefit immediately? YOU, the Executive, and the company as a whole. Some suggestions on continuing development…

  • An Assistant that takes a Project Management certificate, can now more effectively manage your Executive office and deadlines.

  • An Assistant that takes a conflict resolution course is better able to resolve conflicts as they arise in your organization - especially with regard to scheduling and following up on assigned items within your team.

  • An Assistant that improves their overall skill set improves efficiency and productivity for you and your team(s).

Whichever investment your Assistant has requested or will advance your company's most immediate needs; I would recommend that once they have completed any training, they then would present their learnings to the other EAs in the organization. This will further up-level the EA support team as a whole.

I regularly encourage the Assistants that I coach to work together as an EA team to each take a topic and become a subject matter expert, presenting and teaching what they’ve learned to the rest of the team and building an incredibly strong support bench within your company.

So yes, get your Assistant a token of appreciation, but more importantly, continue to invest in them and their professional growth.

Remember, Wednesday is around the corner (and please don’t ask them to buy their own gift!).
